I’m going on my first mule deer and really “out-West” hunting trip this fall in Wyoming and I’m working on putting together a rifle for the trip. Outside of Wisconsin gun deer, I haven’t had much exposure to the rifle world. Hoping to find something sooner rather than later so I can start practicing ASAP.

I’m exploring my options in mid-range rifles in 300 Win Mag, something like a TC Compass or maybe even a Tikka T3/T3X.

Turns out there’s quite a bit of gear to buy, so I have a budget of around $150-$250, but might be able to cut corners elsewhere for the right deal!

All that said, I appreciate any advice on rifles, scopes, or other gear for the trip. Please shoot me PM’s with any offers/tips. Thanks!

You might look on eurooptic.com they usually have some good deals on demos or closeouts on scopes usually vortex

Here is a link to one option. I’m not sure how much you are looking to spend.

If I can’t find something here I think this is a good option. I guess I can add more context too, hoping for something with a 50mm+ objective lens.

here is a 50mm option for about 50$ more on there if you don’t find anything.

skimp on the rifle a bit or something else and buy a quality optic. You cant hit what you cant see and you cant hit with a scope that just broke or is out of whack because you just slipped and fell with it. dont ruin you first great experience out west. you certainly dont need a 300 mag either...a 270 Winchester is plenty of power and plenty flat shooting for a mule deer anywhere.
