Check out Zen-Ray optics. They are a clone of Vortex, and a damn good one. Supposedly the owner of Zen-Ray contacted the over-seas manufacturer of Vortex and got them to re-brand the binos and sell them to him at a reduced price. Not sure if this is true or not, but its a good story! Zen-Ray the same no-fault lifetime warranty and their ZRS HD model ($249) is equivalent to the Vortex Viper ($599). A buddy of mine has the Zen-Ray prime model and they are really nice, I think it would be hard to find better glass for the price. But of course, you can't be the big 3 Alpha manufacturers. Doug at cameralandny.com stocks Zen-Ray and even has demo models for around $50 off retail price. Otherwise, Zen-Ray is based out of Oregon and you can order direct from him. This website and a few other forums have lots of reviews/info on Zen-Ray. Maybe worth a look if you are on a $300 budget.
