Would you buy this scope?

No.

If I can't use it on the firing line at a CMP Modern Military or Service Rifle match, I don't need it. Since selling off my formerly embarrassingly massive firearms collection and settling on an AR-15 A4 style rifle to carry me through my twilight years to the bitter end, I prefer to shoot target matches with A2 style metallic sights, In the field, I'm a "still hunter" and, as such, my shots tend to be very close-range affairs, most often on bedded animals. I fill plenty of tags around the 35 yard line. I've never taken a shot on a game animal over 300 yards in my life. So, even when I'm hunting, I'm more likely to have my "carry handle" clamped on my upper receiver than an optical sight.

I just don't have a personal use for a scope like the OP described.

@Cherokeeguide, don’t you realize that the title “Would you buy this scope?” is actually a loaded question? I mean who wouldn’t want a 20 ounce 2-12X scope with a great reticle? Oops, I meant who wouldn’t want a 25 ounce 3-18X scope with a great reticle? Anyway, I am pretty sure that I read somewhere on here that answering the title question with anything but “Yes!” is against the forum rules, or will, at least, subject you to heckling by sniper wannabes.

Kudos to you for actually hunting for game.

95% of hunters have never taken a shot over 300 yds either. Thanks for an honest answer and telling us why you answered it like that. Hard to intelligently argue with.

You forgot, "No presale or other nonsense." :p

That's how this thread started off, along with "FFP 3-12x40 to 3-12x44mm". But that was back in September 2024, and obviously more has been learned about outsourced manufacturing since then. :geek:

I’m curious why so many people are absolutely not interested in this scope, but yet are so fixated on it. It seems like it’s all they think about. Very weird.

It’s part of the “other.” Some folks clearly have had bad experiences with RokSlide, UM, Form, or some combination of the above, and now have a reflexively poor response to anything associated with them. It’s the other side of the coin from being a fan boy.

And some of it, especially on YouTube, is just outrage posting. When they poke fun at the community here, or ideas popular here, they know it will drive engagement.

Yeah.....

I did put in my pre sale order on this second buy window after passing on the first. Its alot of money for me....but I'm very intrigued/excited by the reticle. And I would be in the same way if it was S2H or trijicon putting it out.

I will say, to this point, I have had very positive interactions with UM in person at their shop (I'm local). I have a rifle on the way I ordered through them, and I will have them through their rings on and mount scope once it arrives, we shall see how it goes, but I am sure it will all be fine based on my experiences there.
