Would you buy this scope?

Ah that's right, those are the preferred option around here. They aren't watertight though are they? I have to plan for rain so I need watertight caps.

The best caps I ever used were some cheapo Monstrum ones like this:

Thick rubber boot that could be taped to the scope bell and a pretty tight sealing cap. Were watertight for as long as I used them. Could get a pair of these as well for sure, just curious if the Tenebraex threaded feature was weighed against other options.
The rubber split on every one of the Monstrum I have used. I used to use them on my binos. Ended up spending more money on the MKMachine version. More $$, but they will replace anyting they make if it breaks.

so this is probably a naive suggestion but if you guys are starting from scratch would these two things be worth addressing in the reticle?

1. What is the purpose of the box around the dot in the center? I think the box looks cool but does it have a purpose here?

2. The wind markings for light/medium/string are genius but should they be marked in such a way that it is completely obvious everytime you look through the scope exactly where those markings are and for want wind speeds? IE its on the reticle so you never need an explanation or to reference a marked picture when you forget what hashes mean what.

- Unsolicited input from someone who has never designed a scope but has designed user interfaces. Curious on the thoughts...

You actually think Form and Ryan just accidentally included something in their reticle that wasn’t useful ?😆
no, was actually just curious what modifications (if any) they are making to the reticle. I've seen THLR thrown around and it seemed rather jam packed with features. Looking at the consolidated thread it does say "simplified thlr" reticle... purely curious how they are going to modify it

It has already been done. Scope is being tested. Look in this thread in the last 2 weeks and you will see.

There are pictures of it between pages 150-170

There is a very valid reason that everything is the way it is. It all serves a purpose. S2H made some changes, but again, all for a purpose. Nothing is there “just because” or because it looks cool.

Jake coming in here with the UM account and stabilizing the thread with lucid talk and transparency.

One thing is for sure—- the scope is an amazing value at $999 if the glass is the grade stated.
I looked through one of them in the shop today. That reticle is way nicer than the pics make it look. It all makes sense real quick when you're actually looking through it. And, as expected, they looked like Form has been dragging them behind his truck

Attached a crude mockup. The ZT scopes already have orange on them, and from what I'm seeing, S2H has earned the right to put as big a logo on it as they want and that's fine with me.

Also, it's easier to sharpie over orange than white if that's the play.

Still looks better than those gaudy stickers that Nightforce puts on their scopes. Haven't heard much complaining about their branding....

Name

s2h Meat Hammer (current)
s2h Steel Hammer (higher mag range competition)
s2h Long Hammer (F- Class or ELR)

Scaleable and room for margin recovery
On the higher mag versions because (F those guys😀)
Phalic enough to be funny without being over the top.

Here’s a Nice example of a Brand style that would
Work well on an optic.
Engrave prior to coating.

I’d recommend using this approach if it absolutely has to have one at all.

Edit: another option would be to divy up the space on the front objective ring where it currently has Trace ADV in 3 locations.
Instead put Trace ADV @ 12:00, ZeroTech @ 4:00, Shoot 2 Hunt @ 8:00 for example.
Nothing else except white control & black knob related stuff that’s already there.

All other advertising stuff can go on the box, manuals, stickers, decals, hats, t-shirts, etc.

As others have mentioned, this has been covered. Use the search function for this thread for 'box', and use the search function for this thread for my posts about how to go about understanding the reticle, and you'll find all you need.

For those that have tested the scope…..
Could you comment on how the controls feel & function. Ocular/lock, power ring, windage, parallax, elevation, zero lock, etc.

In your overall assessment is there need for improvement that you recommend prior to production.

Edit: info is on Page115 Post 2286

Thx.

No sir. Dial elevation, hold wind. IF you need rapid elevation change, then use reticle. For instance, I used the new scopes on three deer, at three different distances- dialed to the center, knew the closest if the deer ran towards me was almost exactly a mil short, and the farther one was almost exactly a mil long- the spots were about 100 yards apart. Shot the center one, then held 1 mil high in the farther, then they ran towards me and held .8 mil low. Three deer, in about 11 seconds. Exactly what the reticle was made for.
Also have used it for follow up shots- animal is hit, runs closer or father away- hold in the reticle.
Sounds like my deer hunt in December, 3 down in less than 10 second from a treestand. The 6 Creed with 108s and knowing the holdovers made it fast.

Not to be negative on this, especially if it's just one option - but that is an absolutely horrible color that I do not want emblazoned as a billboard of on the side of my scopes. Respectfully - it's the opposite of sexy, guys.

Smaller, and a subdued gray, is good and fine.
It is really easy to get some hobby paint and fill in the engraving any color you would want.
