Would you buy this scope?

Looks like this still means around the $1,000 price point for an estimation
Really depends on if he was estimating that based off the MSRP of $2,400 or street price. Euro Optic has them at $1,540 at the moment. Even if it just matched that street price, it would be a great option.

I’m really hoping they do a second scope option with a fixed 6, 7, or 8x, same reticle, few ounces lighter, Mil turret on top, capped windage. Or a set and forget type turret, but a reticle that is useful for holding elevation and windage. And come in under $1000. This could be the trainer scope option, or just a good KISS kind of set up for us simple folk.

Im all in for a 3-18. I feel the covers 99% of my needs for any gun. Have you guys considered a dual reticle system? I am not a scope expert but I've seen some scopes with this and i believe it solves the ffp low power issue but not sure what it does to price. When will this be on the market? Can I invest lol. You guys are printing money at this point how do I buy shares lol.

It’s not the same internals- even a turret type change effects durability and reliability.

Because they don’t demand it. They don’t demand it, becaus they don’t understand it or care. Very few companies give a rip at all about reliability and durability.
Every once in a while a company will get a scope that works, because they get lucky or because they use the same base model as another. But, there are only a couple companies that put reliability and durability at the top- with a written requirement for it.

The erector being used is “new”, and this scope is supposedly the first that will have it.
Thank you for the insights and a direct answer to my questions. Looking forward to the finished product. Sounds like a perfect scope for my 25 Ackley. I just need it before May of '27!!

Pushing boundaries- No.

Things that should have been done from the start- Yes.

What should separate it from the Tenmile-

- as reliable or more
- shorter
- lighter
- low profile 10 mil elevation turret, capped windage
- larger eyebox
- better glass
- better FOV
- better reticle
- better low light illumination
- $600 to $700 less

That’s a promising list. I’ve not owned any but have used both the baby Tenmile and the 4.5-30. The baby Tenmile eyebox was a turn off and really reminded me of the higher mag range LRHS. Seems to be common that higher magnification, higher zoom range scopes with smaller diameter objectives and internals really suffer there.

A 10 mil/rev turret is also appreciated. I don’t mind the 12 mil/rev on my ATACR’s but 8’s have always annoyed me. Doesn’t really effect usability in a hunting application as I’m not taking a shot while hunting that requires an 8 mil elevation correction, but it seems like an easy enough detail to get right.

If they got the reticle right, a dual reticle system won’t be needed as one of the goals was a reticle useful through the entire mag range

What reticle did y’all decide on?

Because a 3-12 sub 20oz scope made as we wanted was a ground up 2-3 year project and a pretty large upfront cost. Tough to do first when an option was available that would get a whole lot right that we didn’t like about what is currently on the market.
The 3-18x scopes in the market weren’t doing anything we wanted- however, something new was offered so that was chosen.

The amount of people that want to buy a 3-12x is significantly less than those who will buy a 3-18x done right. Ryan and I both want the scope that was originally posted about. However, it’s a long term deal. If these scopes (which we also wanted) do well, then there will be more coming in the future.

This makes a ton of sense. Honestly I would prefer the one you are making on my 6.5 PRC and the lighter 3-12 on my other rifles. But the swafa 3-9 fills that gap pretty well. I would rather get the first one out quick and bring the other in a couple years vs just waiting the whole time.
