Would you buy this scope?

I’m optimistic that I will have the opportunity to try it out at next June’s Shoot2Hunt course and that it will be officially released before next hunting season.

Man I really wish I could attend that next year, fingers crossed for a cancellation and I can swing it.

Based on all the updates I am hearing I would buy one for sure.

I would love them to later bring a fixed 6 or 4, or a 4-12, maybe even a 4-8 that are substantially lighter.

Realistically hunting in my part of the country shots under 100 yards are more common than those over 2 and a 400 shot is a real unusual situation.

A 223, RS light, and a nice sub 20 oz (maybe getting close to 15 oz) scope gets real attractive.

Sent get me wrong, I am going to order one of these for my 6.5 PRC and it sounds great for what it was designed for. But a small, light, fixed power in the 4-7 range would be awesome.

Internals will likely be almost identical (if not idential) to the Tract 2.5-15 and the Maven RS1.2 (which are basically identical internally), both use good glass. Other than being 3-18 and likely a different reticle (?) how will this scope be different/differentiated?

The biggest thing for most of us will be the reticle, and supporting a company who wants what we want.

I’m guessing the minor differences will make the difference. As in which reticle you prefer.

I’m hoping the eye relief isn’t too short. I want to put one of these on a 308 and I’ve always preferred longer eye relief scopes.

I haven’t listened to this week’s podcast, so my understanding of the newly announced specifications is limited. My problem with the Maven RS1.2 is that they apparently made it reliable unintentionally. It’s the only scope Maven offers that is truly reliable. And they don’t appear interested in building on that success with other models. I would rather support a company that is trying to bring the most reliable products to the market.

Edit - for me, the competition for this scope is the SWFA 3-15x and a Trijicon option. Scopes above the $1000 mark hold no interest for me.

ETA: I listened today while cleaning up from last week’s hunt. This one was more direct than many and I enjoyed it. Scope discussion starts at 37:30 and is short (ends 41:04).

Recap: “Simplified THLR” reticle. 3-18x44. “A little lighter than [they] thought it would be” (“sub 25 ounces”). Made by LOW. Uses one of LOW’s “new” “base scope build or base erector systems.” Prototypes in S2H hands maybe by end of the year. Six months to complete an order, after testing completed. Will be tested hunting in addition to drop test. Retail maybe this time next year but no promises and won’t be released until it’s ready.

How about purposely built to specs that pass the drop eval, and likely one of the best (if not the best) hunting reticles?

The boys were discussing the scope. Mentioned that Light Optics was making it. This is good. Also that they pulled the erectors from the menu, 3-18. This is more than likely the same erectors that Tract and Maven use. Tract uses Schott glass, (not sure what Maven uses) so unlikely this scope will have better glass than Schott. Personally I love the Eagleman reticle. So I am wondering how this scope will be better than what is already on the market. Assuming its the same internals it will not be anymore reliable unless they are having Light Optics do something different. Often OEMs say yaaa, no. Thus the question, what will make it better than what's already on the market.

If you have noticed, Form and I don't really care if the masses want it; if we want it, there are enough other people who will want it.

The scopes will be 3-18x44 sub 25oz and DURABLE. The reticle will be a hunting reticle, not a tacdafag reticle—low profile turrets with an elevation turret that stays put with a price tag that won't break the bank. The Maven has come the closest, but IMO, no scope has put this all together yet.
