Wolves impacting Idaho elk

Has anyone but me been seeing wolves chasing elk down low below the snow line? I spend a lot of time watching elk and deer in wintering grounds for various reasons and the past two weeks I have seen 3 separate packs of wolves chasing elk in three different units all in areas I haven’t seen wolves before on these wintering grounds. I know Idaho Fish and Game says wolf populations are on the decline but maybe they are getting smarter at keying in? Just wondering if anyone else has been seeing wolf sightings on the wintering grounds.

Happy New Year

Ok thank you will look into that. I live in Boise now so I will get after them myself but if someone wants the information I can give them it in a pm.

I have some acquaintances in the Boise area that would gladly get after some wolves, I will send you a PM.

I just witnessed this 1 mile west of Idaho last week. I killed one of these elk a few days later and my elk had zero fat on it. A 4.5 year old should be pretty fat right now....but this thing was a greyhound.

Wolves are opportunists. As the elk range shrinks in the winter they wreck havoc on them. They may not win 90% of the time, but all the chasing eventually gets them a victory one way or another.😡

My pard and I are all in on the wolves. We have amassed a ton of gear to put the hurt on them on sleds.
The sled part is holding me back. It appears hard to get after them this time of year without a tracked vehicle of some kind. The Idaho woods are less than an hour away from me.

I ran a tracked atv in the past, well....I still have it, I just get nervous about it going down because there's nothing shy of a piston bully that's dragging it out and I have recovered a bunch of sleds over the years......so I have a trail rmk with a 488 fan for hunting.

I killed a Washington elk on 12/26. There was almost zero fat on it. Normally they are packing an inch to two on their ass..... my entire trim pile wasn't 10#.
