My wife started working in the Yukon and, being an avid hunter, decided that being a trapper would be a logical extension of her outdoor pursuits. She recently took the trappers course and a friend of ours has taken her on as an assistant trapper. Last weekend was the season opener and I was up to visit and accompanied the two of them on the line as they set up snares and a few coni's for wolf, coyote, lynx and wolverine.
Setting up a conibear style trap.
Rigging a wolf snare
Baits were out, traps set and the waiting started.
This weekend yielded 4 wolves and a coyote. A good start to the year! Hel was ecstatic and it pumped her up even more than she already was for trapping.
Now all I need to do is get myself transferred up there.
