Looking to get into wolf hunting in the northern panhandle area and curious on tips and tactics that’ll help conserve some of our large game.

Grab a snowmobile or quad and run some roads for tracks. Be out late at night or very early and listen for them. Unit 4 likely has the highest number of them. Good luck
Thank you for your reply. Perfect I have a sled and have road that area a bit but have never been on the look out for them. How do they react to the deeper snow levels?

Dont suppose anybody here is in unit 1, that can tell me current snow / road conditions in the general area between priest lake and myrtle creek? Thinking about heading over for a few days in a week or so. May or may not get the chance, work schedule is not set in stone right now.

Did you get a chance to get out and have any luck? I’ve been working 2 packs and blew 2 chances. Looking for any advice on how to close the distance on them again. They seem to have wised up to my calls.

Thanks Ross! Ill give it a whirl. I also heard that taking scat from one wolf pack and putting it in the others territory can make them a bit nutty. Anyone have any experience doing something like that?

Like Ross said you are going to have to change up your calls. Maybe even a new caller. Wolves are extremely keen on sounds once they have been fooled.

Thanks, maybe I’ll look into some mouth calls and get away from the electronic sounds for a bit. Any recommendation on a good brand? I think I would be looking for a wolf howl, coyote howl /fight, and fawn in distress.
