Leaving tomorrow for a 4 day trip to the mountains for some wolf hunting (first time). Of course, I came down with a cold in the last few days so I'll be battling that while I'm up there.

I am planning on trying to locate and then use calls to try and bring one down. Anybody have any first hand advice for us?

Hope you all are lucky enough to start out the new year like I am, Happy New Year!

Well, we just got back from the trip and after many sets and many miles of roads driven we only crossed a pair of wolf tracks. Saw 89 elk, a few branch Bulls, over 100 deer and a couple dandy bucks, two great bull moose bedded together and a few sets of bobcat tracks. Didn't get a chance to raise the rifle over 3 days. It was an interesting trip and we learned a few things. We did get a pack to answer us one night on our last stand but they were a few drainages over up some roads that were not truck friendly. If we go back up again we may try to bring some sleds.

Keep at it and thanks for posting I was going to try to get out but with this new snow I don't think there is anywhere I can go with my truck.. May be a reason to buy a sled or tracks for utv to at least get into the country.. I hope you make it out again..
