Wolf? Coyote?

Like Legend said, if you’re debating, it’s almost always coyote. Of the fifty-ish wolves I’ve seen in the wild my first thought was never “that’s a wolf!”, it was always “look at that deer, nope jk it’s got a long tail”. Wolves are so much lankier than any other wild canid.

I see nothing from that picture that would make me debate in the least that it's anything other than a coyote.

My only wild exposure to wolves was hunting the elk refuge in Jackson at daybreak. I first thought it was an elk calf till it turned it's head towards me. Not a pleasant feeling
