I'll be using a badger with overfill this year on an Xtherm sleeping pad. Forecast is showing a few days in the mid-high teens. Should i bring a bag liner to be safe or will a 250 weight merino base layer be enough?

Are you a warm or cold sleeper? That makes the determination. A liner is useless gear. It serves one purpose. Use your insulation layers you're already carrying to supplement warmth, not something that only has one purpose.

There's no comparison between a WM bag and a BA bag with zero insulation on the bottom and a cheap pad. A Badger and an Xtherm are in a different stratosphere. Why would you pack puffy pants with no plans to wear them other than sleeping? You can wear them glassing to extend their usefulness. A liner is a one trick pony.To be honest I don't think I have enough experience to know yet. I know a couple years ago I had a 15 degree down BA bag and a cheap klymit pad, temps got down to 8* and I froze my ass off wearing every layer I came with.
For this trip I was on the fence about packing in puffy pants until the forecast started to dip lower and lower. Liner weighs about 10oz, puffy pants are 20oz and I likely would only use those for sleeping too.
I woke up to 12* in my badger and I will bet money i sleep colder than every other lucky sob on the planet. I wore a cap and long johns....I slept well.
