Wiser BT-20 Ridge Warden

I remember Wiser Precision saying somewhere that the Ridge Warden is a little smoother than the Nighthawk actually, which then makes me wonder… why ever get the Nighthawk (heavier) over the Ridge Warden (lighter and better to shoot off of)?

Maybe just to better support heavier optics?

Only complaint I see so far is the tension screw gets hung up on the arca depending on angle.

I was able to play around and adjust the timing so it gets to the tension I prefer at a different spot. May be worth trying.

Ok it def helps u can back it out half way. Rotate the bolt on other side and change it like that. Much better now. I can’t get the handle removed tho do we use Allan on that or the black little knob around it. This thing is awesome. Mounted in the Aziak backcountry

An Allen on the handle bolt, and then hand tighten so your can get it loose later to adjust.

Did you disassemble it or just clean everything you could get to?

I take apart my Anvils but not sure about this one.

Just got all I could with a qtip and multiple revolutions spinning the head around all directions between each qtip until the residue seemed gone.

Any updates on how this is performing? I’ve got a nitehawk that works great and I’m curious about adding a ball head to shoot off of. This would replace an old VA5 for glassing and the occasional time that a shot from kneeling or standing is needed

I had a shoulder surgery this last Monday, but have been glassing the hills at the bow club a few nights this week while the family shoots. I also got out before the surgery to look for pronghorn.

There's nothing lacking that I have found in the glassing department with NL 14s or and ATC. I'm liking it a little better than the Tricer LP because it is either holding tension better OR it isn't as convenient to adjust.

Probably my new favorite set up. Paired with the Aziak backcountry it’s ridiculously lightweight. I plan to run it all season.

Got to spend a few hours with this combo this morning scouting for mule deer. I haven’t done anything besides tighten it on with vice grips cuz it kept coming loose, kinda wanting to see how it holds up without changing/cleaning the factory lube. So far still seems pretty solid, hard to believe this thing is so light.

Use the set screw on the underside of the tripod head plate to keep it from moving.

I had to wrench it onto my manfrotto tripod, the base of the Ridge Warden is too narrow for where the set screw comes up. So far, my only "improvement" would be to make the base a hex and a .00X" larger than the rotating body so it could be grabbed with a tool.

Manfrotto and Sirui bases with the Tricer to compare. PXL_20250720_142256382.jpgPXL_20250720_142529735.jpgPXL_20250720_142758851.jpg
