Wisconsin Firearm Purchase - ID Requirement Questions?!?!?

So I’ve been saving up all summer to buy a Tikka T3X and I finally placed the order from Cabelas ahead of my Wyoming antelope hunt in October.

I read their online firearm policy and all it said is I’ll need to present a valid ID matching the purchasers name, which I didn’t think would be a problem.

The more I got to the thinking about it, I realized that my home address on my drivers license is my old address. I’ve update my address with the DMV, but they said it’s not necessary to get a new license as long as the system is up to day - meaning my license is still valid.

My question is - is this going to cause problems when I go to pickup my rifle? Is there any other documentation (bank statement/paystub/etc) I can bring to prove my address is correct? Does the address on the ID even have to match the background check?

I had this happen once. I went in to purchase a pistol and mentioned in passing that I had recently moved and the guy behind the counter said he couldn't sell me the gun due to the address not being current. Went back a few days later and purchased it from a different clerk. No hassle at all.

Had this happen to me in TN; I submitted the address change online while I was at the store, a little while later it showed up in the system and I was able to buy the rifle.

Bring another government issued document with a current address. I have used my vehicle registration as proof of current address before.

Just following up - I stopped at Cabelas and just asked. They said bring your cellphone and you can do an ID lookup in the DOT/DMV website. Thanks for all the input!

Some states have approved stickers you put on you drivers license and write your new address on it. You may need to tell them at the gun counter becuase sometimes they go on the backside of the license and they don't always look for it.

I'd recently moved and bought a gun without my DL being up to date and it was still my out of state one. My vehicle registration, lease agreement or utility bill would've worked. I used a vehicle registration with no problem.
