Yes it is. I live in WI so this made local news pretty fast. The first article I saw quoted him saying he was attacked for about 45 seconds before his son shot.

According to the WI DNR this is the 14th attack since 2013. I know one of those that have been attacked personally.

‘Didn’t think twice’: 12-year-old boy fatally shoots bear mauling his father during hunt

The father suffered bites to his forehead, arm and leg. He also needed stitches to reattach a flap of skin on his cheek that was ripped during the attack.
