Winter Gloves

Looking for recommendations on a pair of winter gloves. Used for snowmobiling, ice fishing, snow blowing, winter quading, etc. currently have a pair of swanny gloves that are worn out.

Was looking at Kuiu Northstar and some options from OR (not sure what ones yet)

Mittens are the answer, but mittens or gloves I would get hestra.

I can’t stand mittens on machines. I don’t find I have enough dexterity.

OR are legit, I was very disappointed in Kuiu gloves. And I like most of their clothing.

I wear Klim gloves for all you described. I did not like their heated gloves-great dexterity, not warm enough on a sled going 50 mph

The last couple years ive switched to carhart. The ones I really like are an over glove that comes with a nice liner with finger tips you can use your phone with. Wore them to -40 last year. And they actually fit my XXL hands

A $35 pair of Kincos go a long ways. Not saying you might not need something warmer on the coldest days, but if you're ruling out mitts, I'd try those before spending big $.

Oversize them, wear a glove liner under them and leave just enough room for handwarmers, and you'll be good. I'm not sure the Northstars will be any warmer as you are mostly paying forr the shell fabric and the weight factor.

Or, you could consider heated gloves from OR or similar.

Glad to hear I'm not the only struggles with big ol paws... I can't find much in XXL. I'll have to check these out.

Which Hestra gloves do you have? I tried on the Heli and Fall line today. Really like the heli

The tricot is about the warmest shootable glove though not warm for snowmobile or winter quading.

The wakayama is great for late fall quadding and some winter stuff like snow blowing, mine go with me nearly every trip to the truck.

For snowmobiling the only gloves I would consider are their "Army Leather Heli Ski" gloves. I would more likely wear mittens but these things are warm.

Any glove that has a shell, and an inner. I hate mittens too.

For warmth I prefer mittens over gloves, but as you mentioned it's a pain in the rear removing them to do things with your fingers. Some mittens are actually gloves with a mitten part that covers the glove area when not used. I have a pair of carhart mittens that were relatively cheap and work amazing for the price. I have a bunch of different gloves but the better ones aren't camo...more like ski gloves. One of my best pair of gloves I use for fishing and are waterproof. Unfortunately I forgot the brand name.

I like the kincos as well, would put sno seal on them and carry an extra pair as well for really wet days. They do make a pair now that are mittens but have the point finger separate.

im using hestra as well the size 11 and im using two kinds: army leather ski 3 finger with the regular 3 fingers liner, the wool heli ski 5 fingers liner, or the expedition liner and a hunter gauntlet czone that is a 5 fingers one with the wool heli ski liner if there is a big wind or forecast of bad snow fall im using an extra pull over mitt so in fact a three layers hand protection , if really getting colder im using home made mitten the upper part is made of black bear fur under part cow hide and inside a fleece liner and if needed a pair of wool mitten or gloves. hope that helps. i have a three finger outdoor research in goretex but i used a lot less than the hestra but i put inside hestra liners.
