Hello so I am currently running a vortex summit ssp tripod and the quick adaptor on my binos and spotting scope. I would like to be able to use the same adapter plate and not have to unscrew plates and switch around. Any ideas how to achieve this?

I think there are probably several ways to accomplish this but I purchased the Manfrotto window mount and just take my tripod head off the tripod and move it over to the window mount for that use. I've never used the vortex summit series tripod but I assume it, like most, has the capability to unscrew the head and move it over. If that's the case you don't have to worry about different plates at all as the head the optics attach to doesn't change.

So do you have the vortex window mount?
They both run the ss plate.
So if you have 2 plates one for spotter, 1 for bino adapter you should be good.
Or am I missing something???

That is a good idea! I will have to see if my tripod head is removable

No I do not have the window mount. And it looks like there window mount does not have the SS plate? The only one that does is the ball head one and I am looking for a pan head

Are you using the uni daptor? If so, just get another uni daptor base and thread it on the window mount and leave it there. Great for the binos on/off. It does prevent you from putting your spotter on though. The other way I see is to get a Summit car window mount as suggested above and deal with having a ball head for the ease of quick optic changes. Or, just get the Outdoorsmans system and you're SET!

Robby Denning has a nice video on rok blog with the outdoorsmans window mount.

I use a manfrotto window mount base with an outdoorsmans quick release adapter. I also run the quick release adapter on my slik 634 and big manfrotto tripods. I can change out my outdoorsmans heads from window mount to tripod in seconds.

All my optics have outdoorsmans adapters. The possibilities are endless.

For hunting applications including size weight and function this system is hard to beat. Build quality is outstanding.

A couple years ago I was that guy in the hardware store trying to piece together a mount for my alpha glass......what a joke.

Outdoorsmans gear is expensive for a reason it works. Resale is rediculous. It may not make you a better hunter but you will feel like a rock star using it....lol.

I would love to get the outdoorsman system but I recently bought this vortex summit ssp tri pod and I will be spending money on some other gear this year so that’s out the window for awhile

Has anyone ran an Outdoorsman micro pan head on a Vortex SSP tripod? My problem with the SST was not the tripod but the head. I feel like this might be a decent lightweight combo that wouldnt kill my budget. At least until I bite the bullet on a better tripod.

Soo the head on my tri pod does not look it is removable, any other suggestions ?
