Thinking about getting a Manfrotto window mount and what is a good low profile head for it. Do a lot of glassing from the truck window. Have no experience with the side joystick models (pivot ball) Can you share nice setup that would also work on the tripod but mostly care about low profile for window mount with a straight spotter. Pics would be great too.
Thank you in advance.

The cabelas window mount is pretty sweet. My buddy has the Cabelas, I have Vortex. The Cabelas one is way better. Don't have a lot of experience with others.

I've got the Manfrotto 243 glass clamp, a 700RC2 fluid ballhead, and a Manfrotto micro ballhead that came on a Manfrotto BeFree tripod. On my last hunt I was able to use a buddies 332RC2 joystick head. All using The Manfrotto quick release plates.

Out of the three, the ballhead worked fine to stop and look off at something. If you want to pan a bunch, the fluid head is very nice. I found the joystick was no faster or easier to use for me to use than the ballhead. Regardless of what I used, I had to shut the truck off. My diesel rattles around to much to use magnified glass clamped to the windows.

The fastest way to get on something... You're going to love this.

Wait for it...

Rear shooting rest sandbag! Flop it on the window sill, hood, bed rail, or whatever. Toss the scope on top and let it rest. Faster than a glass clamp or setting up a tripod.

I have a vanguard window mount that kind of sucks. Wouldn't stay in the exact position when I would lock it. After getting a benro head and slik tripod I had a machine shop fit the benro to the window clamp. Works awesome!!
