The wife and I were hunting this morning and both agreed the wind sucked. It was 50-55* with 20mph winds, the other morning was 35-40* with light winds and we were both more comfortable in the colder weather. I had a Browning soft shell and she was in a King XKG soft shell.

What is the recommended mid weight (30-60*) wind proof jacket for stationary stand hunting? I’ll be looking to upgrade our wardrobe soon.

Have you tried just popping a wind shirt over the top of your layers? It makes more difference than you would think.

I have one from Beyond Clothing and I love it. I did get it on sale, though, and I think they’ve raised the price since then. Feels like an insane price now. FWIW, I have three articles from this brand now and I love all three of them. I’ve noticed a weird pattern with their pricing - just pick out what you want and keep an eye on it. For whatever reason, random items are steeply discounted for seemingly no reason. I got this wind shirt for $109 + tax a couple of years ago. Got similar deals on the other two items.

IMO, the gold standard for mid weight stand hunting is the Sitka Stratus line. Absolute game changer for me. If you get the pants, go with the bibs so you can vent them. With good bases layers, this will take you down pretty low. Sustained 30 degree temps might be a bit low though. I promise, this is what you're looking for. Do some research and you'll see it's a great piece of gear.

I just picked up a Kuiu peloton 240 full zip hoody and I've only worn it a couple times now. I feel like it's going to be a little bit lighter weight version of the stratus.

There are a couple different options for wondproof jackets and pants.

I second the stratus line with bibs. Def work well very versatile.

I plan to do some reviews of this specific thing before next season starts and will continue thru the season for a huntability portion as well.

Take a look at my post in the clothing section for some different options i plan to test.

Cabelas Windshear elite. I've had both the Cabelas line and the Sitka stratus line. I prefer the Cabelas line. 1/4 of the price, fit is more standard and works great with layering, and the patterns are way better. I think they are on sale right now. I have the pants, jacket, and vest, and spend $160 for all 3. Bought two pieces used for $40 ea.

Also take a look at the Kryptek Vellus fleece jacket. Thinsulate Platinum insulation and water and windproof. Also has a hood and pit zips.
