Well a little late getting to it, but some might recall I was looking for a Pre-64 Model 94 back in September and had a few threads on here asking around. AK Trout has posted some threads on his 100+ year old rifles still printing hunt-able groups and I promised I would post up about mine once I got it. Well in October I found a pristine 1954 Model 94 and could not pass it up. The rifle was in great shape and can tell it wasn't shot much. I bought it at a gun show and I had 4 dealers offer to buy it from me as I walked around the show. Needless to say this rifle wasn't going anywhere. I took the time to carefully disassemble (thanks youtube) and clean which was a task ensuring nothing was marred or screws stripped. It took me awhile before I got to shoot it and wasn't able to shoot groups, but got her sighted in and got a few hunts in before season closed.

The gun is a joy to carry and delivers the hammer on whitetails. I was shooting the Hornady Leverevolution and had no problem with hitting a pie plate at 75 yards. I shot one deer as I was still hunting and got inside of 50 yards. I can't recall shooting a deer with my rifles where they didn't high tail it out of there. Makes an easy tracking job. The second deer I shot pictured below was the same story. It didn't move a foot from where I shot it. No wonder the 30-30 has been around for years and has a special place in history.
