Win a Paunsaugunt Mule Deer Hunt!

soooo if I win the raffle… I’m gonna owe $26k in taxes?? Is this real please clarify
Yup. Experiences are treated the same as a cash prize for IRS purposes. Look at the official rules section on the website. You’ll get a 1099 for the value of the hunt as if it was income.

I saw more deer over 200 in 3 days in the pauns than I’ve seen in the last decade.

I’d go to just bring carry Travis’s cooler full of cokes.

Going into their taxidermy shop is hard on your zipper..

I think you guys throwing out the tax issue also realize quite well that in most sweepstakes type giveaways, there will be taxes. Just part of living in the land of the free and the home of the brave. You are all smart guys and I'm sure you've also looked up the fact that most sweepstakes offer a cash prize instead of the hunt or whatever that particular item happens to be. In most cases, the cash prize is very significant. Plenty good enough that if you aren't in a position financially to pay the taxes on the prize, you will walk away with enough money to buy a badass hunt pretty much any where in North America. I understand the drive to post up all the negatives, but in reality, there's no reason the winner of this DeerBeDead Outfitters Paunsaugunt hunt can't walk away with a great hunt, or a chunk of cash. Cheers, and good luck to those that have entered, we appreciate all of you Roksliders that have purchased tickets! Hope somebody that likes to hunt big deer wins this one!

It’s a forum. Your job is to keep that info buried in the fine print, our job is to bitch about it while still signing up for tickets. All the same game.

oh ya!
and deerbedead is one of the best IG pages out there.

OK, understood.

so it could be $26K if you were personally at 23% tax rate and the ARV is determined to be $110 (23%x110K). Right?
Gonna need a bigger brain here to explain the variables.
From what I’m seeing on the Google machine. They withhold the 24%, then you get the 1099 for the ARV as if it was income, then when you file for taxes it’s just added to whatever you actually made that year. So it should push your tax bracket up. I’m no tax expert and the system is full of loopholes a professional would know so I hope someone knowledgeable can chime in. Here to learn.

OK, I understand it now. I just didn’t understand the ARV and how that played in

Either way, to get to hunt the Pauns with deer be dead outfitters, I’d be peddling hard to figure out how to pay those taxes. It’s beyond once in a lifetime hunt. Thanks man.

I’ve already got a Picasso (dogs playing poker on velvet) that I’m going to donate to offset taxes when I win..
