Very well thought out and informative response! Who knew you were so deep lol. ThanksLive2hunt,
His method is a shock-and-awe approach physiologically, and this shock experience is believed to center one's being around the basic reactions to stress and discomfort. The premise is this visceral confrontation of one's inner stresses is what determines one's physical condition or state of mind, which can be manipulated by mind control and intuitive core awareness.
Have I tried his shock-and-awe ice water immersion? No, i dont believe that his methods of inner focus work for me. However, time spent meditating on physiological responses to stresses can reveal an awareness and type of control that empowers the mind to transport the body with precision and strength.
The only physiological response I have not been able to manipulate (or temperarily control) is my genetic predisposition of high blood pressure.
heart rate control? Yes
stress levels? Yes
core strength? Yes
Direction and motivation? Yes
Personal energy strategies to improve (manipulate) one's interactions with others? Yes
These are achievable through real and deep inner connections with one's body and mind.
BUT, it's vital to understand blood chemistry as it relates to homeostasis. Wim's method of breathing is a mechanical experiment with oxygen and carbon dioxide. In his teachings, the center of health and awareness begins with breathing (i.e., oxygen saturation).
The "clarity" and "wisdom" that his lessons teach can also be achieved through, say, a near death experience of drowning, where one's physiology is wildly confronted with oxygen deprivation. Once you have this experience, a knowledge and power that results of one's own body and the fragility of life can be tremendously enlightening to reveal the simple and fragile spark of life.
It's the spark, IMO, that Wim's methods help folks tap in to, not the mechanics of simple breathing and yoga.
I believe it's important for anyone who hasn't found this truth to tread lightly on the scale of belief in the results of mind and body control. Many people can enter this state of being for very short spurts of time, but the power is unsustainable until we discover the core influencing distractions of fear, stress, anger, and powerlessness.
Once you master these areas of your life and the affects they have on human physiology, the true power and potential is clearly revealed within.
