Looking for burn percentage and speed for a 16" 308 shooting 130 Barnes TTX or 130/135 Hammer bullets.

To cheap to sign up, and not sure I would use it after this.100_3045.JPG

4064 works extremely well in my 18". So well I don't care to continue load development or how much was burned.

Will look at Gordon's

I just got my Stythe TI and would like to keep it. So looking for a high burn rate, thinking 4064 with a light bullet is to slow.

Second Gordon's reloading tool, very useful, lots of information. Can be a bit overwhelming at first, but from what I have heard , better iser interface vs Quickload

I did look at the site, just not sure I want to download. All in metric? I am not much of a computer person, born in the 50s.

4064 is way too slow per Gordon's sim.

44 grains is 99% load ratio with 68.2 burn %.

47.5 grains of Varget is 100% load with 86.3% burn. MV of 2792.

Looks like N-135 gets you the right mix of full case and burn rate. Here is a sim with 10 step load dev example.

That is interesting THANKS. I am seeing varget listed as slower than 4064 in the charts and n135 the fastest of the 3 but close in the charts. I am not likely to find that locally though.

Yes from book. If you notice, the 130 tsx recommended seating is 2.810" and the TTSX is 2.735". Much shorter than the TSX. So given I'm running 49g varget in R-P brass, my seating is 2.825" with the TTSX that gives me a good amount of jump, but it drives tacks, but also a compressed load. With TAC 50g shot the best but in my particular 20", the accuracy node is very small. However it's not compressed. What lead me to try TAC was the velocities that others were getting from it. I had about 3 lbs of Varget and was my go to, but figured I'd pick up a lb of TAC to try. I didn't velo it yet with the Garmin, but I'm betting 50g of TAC in a 20" is close to 3000 fps.

You're welcome and the one downside of Gordon's is that if there isn't a large sample size of data for a given powder, the calibration can be less accurate. 4064's calibration was on the low end, but given the burn rate in the 60s, there has to be better options. Based on @sdupontjr experience, TAC looks like a winner. The Gordon's sim is below and is scratching 2900 MV.

AR Comp and 130 TTSX are a solid combo in my 14.5" 308.

Start and finish loads of AR-Comp represented below.

130 Barnes TTSX
41.8gr @ 2574fps
45.4gr @ 2746fps (no pressure observed)

(Not a bad group for a quick pressure test spanning 3.5grs of powder)
