Looks like the other 3 companies, Sitka, Kuiu and Kryptek all have a stretchy style pant, light and heavy weight versions. Does anyone know if First Lite will do the same?

I was at Cabelas last night and tried on what they had for Kryptek. Fit well and like the Alios pants. I like FL's ASAT pattern but like the Highlander as well. My lean based on a stretchy pant would be to Kryptek since they are in the market and available.

Also my hesitation lies with results from the rain gear test. I'm I guess a metrosexual hunter so I have to match my tops/bottoms. Maybe I buy based on rain gear results first.

Hope all had a great weekend sales hunting.

am one who hopes first lite does not go away like russell. new and improved, latest and greatest, gotta have it......

Well considering the actual rain jacket got sparkling reviews that bodes well for first lite. The pants were not ever meant to be rain gear they were a soft shell pant, and honestly I really feel first lite is highly underrated, I enjoy their kanabs, their baselayer wool to me is the best out there. And the puffy that I picked up is the best piece of gear I've picked up in quite sometime. When they come out with the rain pants to match the jacket next year I will probably be picking them up.

I have some of the First Lite pants on the way. Also have the Alaios, very happy with them for most of the trips i took.

I will post up some thoughts after i get some real use with the First Lites.

Im really hoping they do come out with something similar. Im hesitant to buy the Kanabs, more than likely because I have no experience with merino pants. Just worried about durability. But I do have to say all the other FL gear I own is awesome!

Sreekers - thanks for that insight, gives me hope to hold out for some FL pants then their rain gear. So torn on camo pattern, ASAT vs Highlander. I do mostly Arizona hunting with mix of rifle/bow.

I would be interested in know durability of the FL pants. Being in the desert here, Carhartts are the best but painfully heavy. If the FLs do well, that might be the ticket, i have too been hesitant with the Kanabs for running the desert.

I really liked the Kanabs. But durability was an issue for me. I no longer have them. I know they have re-did them once for sure. Hoping they get it right at some point. Make for an awesome early season pant.

I for one hope that they do come up with something new because if you get into any kind of brush country at all they will end up in shreds. I have had three pairs of them and they have so many patches on them that I look like a hobo...my seamstress just rolls her eyes when she sees me dropping them off for repair. :) What I DO like is that they are crazy comfortable but it's no longer worth it for me...they have now been relegated to open country hunting only.

DWarcher - Arh for the wool Kanabs. Those would get ripped in the desert quickly. What are you using in scrub brush now?

The stretchy pants like Alioas/Attacks seem to hold up better from what I have seen. If FL goes that same direction that would be great. I hope they do a stretchy and wool, i would like to use the wool in open areas or dove hunting.

I spend to much money at tailor getting things ressized or fixed. Might be cheaper to find a wife/girlfriend that sews.

Way cheaper to pay a tailor.

The pants make me itch. The base layers do not and I really like the Asat pattern. Works well with Kuiu well and imo last longer. When I said the pants make me itch it is without a base layer. I also do not like where the cargo pockets are on the first Light pants. But each to there own. Bob.

I used the Valahallas this year and other that material 'balling up' I was very happy with them. I really like the look/feel of the Alaios but am waiting for them to come out with a solid.

Honestly, I would be shocked if the guys over at FL didn't come out with something new sooner rather than later.
