Considering surprising my son with a new Kifaru pack. Have any of you purchased a pack for your son, daughter and or wife that was on the shorter side? My son is 5'1". He's built like a tank but has not hit his growth spurt yet- he hopes. :) Just want to make sure I get him something that fits... I am thinking the 22" frame will work but if I can get him a 24" it gives him some room to grow and use it a little longer... Not trying to be cheap- if he should have a 22" then a 22" it is. But if a 24" will work then obviously that is better for my wallet...

Also looking for suggestions and recommendations on a pack. He has been using a woman's North Face pack (it's green so he doesn't know...) which has worked fine but he (and his dad) are ready for him to up his load in and out.

Appreciate all your suggestions and recommendations!

Thank you.

As long as his waist size works out, I think the 22" torso will adjust plenty short. I'm 5'6" with a 30" waist and use a 22" UL frame and an XS belt. The frame has quite a bit of adjustment to go shorter in the torso from my setting.

I am gonna call- I just thought I would get some feedback.
I have a two year old 26" duplex that might just get called back up. I didn't even try it on him!

Pretty kick-a$$ dad for getting him a sweet pack like a Kifaru. He should be ecstatic. My vote goes to the Woodsman, it should be a good size that he can grow into, use on multi-day hunts, and not feel overwhelmed by its size.

My wife is 5'0" and she has used my Kifaru a time or two. I have a composite hunter frame with 24" stays with the AMR bag. I think you would be good to go with my setup and it's a pack for life. Just choose the bag that's suitable for your needs the AMR is awesome.

My girlfriend who is 5'2" ran a 24" kifaru duplex this last season. It worked well, she loves the pack, but it is at the bottom of the adjustment range. She does have a short torso though so that could be part of it.

Here is my wife (5'3) and my dad (5'0) both hauling mountain goat and gear off the mountain both with 26" frame Kifarus.

My gal is very small 5'-#125. Got her in a 24" Bikini frame with a High Camp 4800 bag, she considers it the perfect set-up for her size.
