Wife's first elk....

She left a few minutes late in the a.m. and missed dawn, but....about one minute after she left the house I heard 'boom'. I almost jumped outta my skin while eating breakfast.
Great cow was down right on the trail about 60 yards from the shop.

We've killed some good bucks lately, all right on our ranch, but it's been a few years since we've had elk in the freezer, looking forward to it!

Tell your wife congratulations! That is what my buddy and I call "cashing in a coupon!" A person usually will have a few tough hunts to get the chance to cash in a coupon like that. Whole in the garage and hanging. That's awesome.

Awesome big cow! Will you report back on how many pounds of consumable meat you get off that thing, as well as an estimated age? Even after reading that your wife is only 5'2" I feel like that is a really large old cow. Very curious what you end up with.
