Why shouldn’t I buy this Tikka?

Looking to get a new do everything rifle.

Talk me out of this rifle! Can I do better for this price or less? For that matter, can I do better at any price? I know I can get cheaper Tikka’s, but I want a 20” barrel max, threaded, and stainless or cerakote. By the time I cut, thread, and cerakote a base model, I don’t really see it being any cheaper.
I imagine that I will eventually replace the stock, but at least put a vertical grip and cheek riser for now. I have a SWFA patiently waiting in it’s box…

Only cons I see:
I really want a 25 Creedmoor! In reality, I have been using a 6.5 for 6 or 7 years now, and can’t find any substantial reason to change.
Never have cared much for a Tikka stock, although it is a bit better than my current gun. I can’t say that I’ve found any factory stock that wowed me.

Anything I’m missing?

Nothing wrong with that -- IMO it's a great package at a fair price. Check out this for some affordable improvements to the factory stock.

One small caveat if you're planning on an OTB suppressor: The included 5/8"-24 adapter may need a bit of filing on its corners to fit inside the OTB portion of smaller cans.

A base Tikka can be had with a 20” threaded barrel, in stainless, for less than that from EuroOptic. But if you love the stock, then go for it.

I'm anal about all kinds of things, but the one action size for all cartridges is the one thing putting me off of all future Tikkas. If I'm shooting a short action cartridge, I want a short action. It's a little detail, but it's why I'm looking hard for a 300 WSM for my next rifle..

I'd get the one with the camo stock and tungsten cerakote but the one you posted would be my second choice. you could probably get 200+ if you wanted to upgrade and sell the camo stock.

I used to think the same, it seemed very cheap to me to have the same action size for everything. Now I think it’s at least somewhat of an advantage.

If you wanna make your 3006 a 6.5cm all it takes is a barrel change. Heck you can switch a 223 to a 300wm with just a barrel, bolt, and a bolt stop. You can easily find takeoff Tika barrels here for under 100 bucks, and there are frequent ads to trade bolts as well.

If I could get the plain black stock for substantially cheaper, I don’t mind. I’m ridiculously proud of some of the sponge jobs I’ve done on a few of my current guns…

The one you linked comes in a metric thread pitch and includes an adapter, the one he linked is threaded 5/8". You can work around it but for the same price it's a whole lot less hassle to just have it threaded 5/8".

Just texture (which really does help) and colors (personal preference). Easier to sell than a generic poly stock, and for a higher price.

I bought the camo tungsten version 2 weeks ago. It’s a stainless d18 taper and threaded 5/8 so no adapters. It’s heavier than a standard light contour but if you’re cool with that it’s a fantastic deal!

I only wish I had more money to buy 3 for my kids.

I have one and agree. The adapter adds about 3/4" length for nothing gained other than a more inconvenient length with a direct thread suppressor. Not an issue of you're running a HUB mount suppressor as a few companies make metric HUB adapters. I'M having my barrel cut to 19" and 5-8-24 with a shoulder adapter to run the Airlock 6.5mm can.

Yeah I had C&S make a m15x1 HUB for my rifle's dedicated can and it works great and weighs less too, but now that I want an AirLock for it I'm screwed.

Im going to double down. You should buy too. Add that to your cart and a 223. Forget about the 25 creed. You want that in a Tikka it will be atleast a few more years, if ever.

Stuffing a 300WSM into a short action is like putting a college freshman back into her prom dress.

It’ll fit, but it isn’t pretty.
