Why do the kifaru shoulder straps run off of the hip belt vs the frame like others? Pros? Cons?

Kifaru has broken the ice on mucho innovations. Standing out or setting themselves apart, and setting the bar really. No cons come to mind.

I think it is fairly common for the shoulder straps to connect to the waist belt, at least with hunting packs.
Not sure about back packing packs.

I have a revolution, xcurve, K2, and K3 frame. I can't say the connection point has made a difference for me.

my only gripe on the MR NICE frame is the straps will chew my sides at times. My Kifaru does not.

This is probably a minor issue but does anyone have some insight?

Which higher end packs are running shoulder straps right to the frame? I can't remember for sure if my EXO went to the belt or frame but I can tell you Kuiu and Stone Glacier both run the shoulder straps to the belt. Most frames are not wide enough for these straps to reach the bottom corners of without going around or over the belt anyway, and the belts have some structural support where the straps attach.

My Krux and tactical frames attach to the belt and both are more comfortable than my guidelite frame that attaches to the frame...
