It's that time of year for sure! I'm messing with gear and starting to organize it for the two trips that I've got scheduled in remote western Alaska. The first is a hundred-mile pack-raft float 8/24-9/2 on a river flowing through absolute fishing heaven! The second is a drop-hunt for moose 9/11-9/25 in Unit-18.

...I've been planning this trip for over 3 years now. My Father, Uncle and I are headed to Dillingham for our hunt...
That is so awesome that you get to do this with your dad and his brother!

I drew a tag for the Yukon, will be making the run from the bridge up several hundred miles.
That will be an adventure Stid! Years back I drew the Koyukuk, so we went down from the bridge for several days to get to the hunting area. It was quite the trip.

I wish everyone the very best adventures...be safe and enjoy every moment!

I head up on the 12th with a buddy for our first moose hunt. We’ll be out there for 14 days so we’re pretty excited, just hoping the Corona doesn’t throw a wrench into our plans!

I'm planning to go on my first ever Alaska hunting trip. Never been to Alaska yet. So far, I'll be going solo. Getting dropped off by an air transporter for a diy hunt in unit 16b. Weather permitting, I'll fly in the 12th and hunt till the 25th if I have to. Still trying to research what gear I need for the hunt and reading up on here some. Only decided I'm doing it for sure a couple weeks ago so it's very last minute and have a ton of gear to get ready plus should start trying to get in shape. Have experience camping and fishing in Ontario though so not worried there but getting a moose out will be a struggle I'm sure. Good luck to all.

Interior rivers are at flood stage and rains continue. Let's hope things change in the next few weeks as many landing areas are flooded. Those that are rafting wouldn't have to worry about dragging at this time. Bugs are as bad as I can ever remember. Yesterday I had 32F at 4am but no frost. A bit of fresh snow on the peaks in Isabel Pass.

Not bad for the first week of summer!

Can’t wait to hear how this goes! You’ve got some major cajones going solo, much respect! Good luck

September 8-22, fly-in, DIY, moose & caribou if they decide to pass our way again this year. Taking a friend who will get first dibs. Hope that the huge one I saw last year (and got within 70 yards) shows up again. B&C for sure so he will place well in P&Y. My job this year is guide and pack mule.

Wanted to do 17b but timing as a cpa would
Would not work.. need to be farther into
September.. found a new reputable transporter and I’ll be in 16b.. not my top preference as I’d love to go back to 18 but this was the herald my buddy could go.. he gets first right of refusal on all bulls as I’ve killed two..

I'm going to be hunting 16b. I didn't do a ton of research, unlike many on here, but my wife has a couple sisters living in Alaska, Soldotna area, and my brother in law put me in touch with a transporter he thinks very highly of. Talked to a couple others that know the transporter and they had good things to say about him. Good luck on your hunt! After everyone is back home this fall we need a new thread with the stories.
