I use the aluminum FOCUS system with Rampage arrows and its great! I don't have a complaint, some good youtube videos by Corey at XXX archery on how to set them up.
I am running the FOCUS system on black eagle x-impacts and really like it. I did the aluminum outserts and then added 20gr of weight to the back to make my insert longer. Basically I tried to mimic the valkyrie system of the long center pin and sleeve over the arrow but without the price tag. I tested it for durability into some concrete and got a couple of the outserts to bend but those are easy to unscrew and replace. Never had my arrow break on any of the front on impacts. I much prefer this system over just running the outsert for a couple different reasons. If the outsert bends i can simply unscrew it and put a new one on. I feel its easier to get the FOCUS system to spin because I can rotate the outsert and screw it down in different posititions. I find that its more concentric when i get to screw my outsert to an already indexed and aligned insert (kinda like a half out). Lastly the durability aspect of the FOCUS system was much better than a half out or just outsert in my testing.
I did have the opportunity to test this system out on a couple animals this season. The first was a montana elk at 52 yards that was a hard quartering shot. I got lucky and snuck the arrow just on the inside of the leg bone and got heart and lung. Elk went roughly 100 yards (walked off pretty slow and didnt run) and I recovered the elk with my arrow still in it. Pulled the arrow out and both arrow and broadhead were perfect (free plug for sevr 1.5") arrow spun true at home. The second animal was a mature muledeer at 78 yards pretty broadside and I hit the arm bone because im a lousy shot and only got about 10" of penetration. I ended up putting another arrow in him when I was blood trailing that hit high lunch which bumped him again and finally a third arrow just to expedite the process. Oddly enough I only recovered the very last arrow that had broke just behind the weights of the center pin from him flailing about. I checked the ousert which went in through the bottom of the chest and hit ribs and spine and the outsert itself is still in perfect condition. Overall I have no complaints about the arrows or FOCUS system and will be using them again next year.
