Ive learned how to spend money from most of you

I learned how to do that years ago, but I will admit it has gotten a bit worse lately! I got all geared up to live out west in the lower 48 and came to realize that while most of that stuff will carry over to AK, I still need more!

Great site and glad to be on here reading stories, talking with people and learning as much as possible.

Can you imagine doing all this stuff without learning from folks who have done it? That would certainly cost more or at least that's how I justify it :)

I'm a relative new comer to this site. I think one of the greatest things about this site is that there are opinions from all corners of the us and out side. On the gear side I get to see what works best where and that tends to be helpful. Being an Alaskan I would have to vote towards those who get it done here. Any Alaskan knows we have special challenges here. With that said there are a few whose opinions I hold in high regards.. Luke.. Becca.. Steve(Stid)... Yellow knive and a few others whose names are slipping the mind. It's a cool forum and I am thankful to be part of a forum that simply exchanges stories, information and generally wants to help each other... Rare stuff in most forums.

I would credit Rokslide as a whole. I've been backpacking, and backpack hunting off and on for over 20 years, but it turns out, I had no idea what I was doing. I've learned massive amounts about gear, tactics, and good, generous people from this site. I have never advertised any forum I've been a member of, or really even talked about them, until now. I wear a Rokslide hat or hoody almost every day. Easily the best hunting forum on the web, thanks everyone.

I guess I'm the type of person that learns by doing. Most of the most important stuff comes from trial and error. For instance, I now know:
How to break gear
How to get lost
How to scare the crap out of myself on cliffs
How to miss what I was shooting at with pretty much every weapon
That I'm not as tough as I think I am
That I'm tougher than I think I am
How to forget stuff that I'm going to need
How to lose stuff that I'm going to need
How to get hurt in the woods
How to say embarrassing shit that I'm going to regret later
How to call bullshit on people when they are way bigger and stronger than me (see "how to get hurt in the woods")
