20 cords? That just makes my back hurt.......I generally cut about 20 cords every year. If I don’t get an early start, I’ll be cutting in the dead of summer. That sucks.
In the northwest, it’s a stud wood. It makes damn good fenceposts and burns incredibly well. IMO, it’s about the best firewood ( in our area). When I was falling timber, if you got into a good patch, the mills would use it for plywood peelers.I have access to tamarack at times and usually grab the oak, maple or birch. What's been your experience with it ? Things I've heard that it seasons quickly , burns "hot", and resists decay. (I have buddy who built a hunting cabin out of it)
I cut my moms and my in-laws wood for them. Between the 3 of us, that’s about what we use in a year.20 cords? That just makes my back hurt.......

In the professional series, both make damn good saws. I run a 661 Stihl, but my backup saw is a 395 Husky.Guys, the other thing let's try not to get to political about things. You know the whole husqvarna vs stihl thing. Cause everyone knows hands down Husky is the best saw

That’s big one! Grinding stumps makes a heckuva mess!Would've been nice to just grab some fire wood. I had to prep this for the grinder.View attachment 411458
It is on NF land out west. They don't sale firewood permits until May 15th. Different NF districts may be different, but most in my area follow that date. If you are cutting prior toI'm soo lost right now... At first i thought this was a joke thread, but then some comments make me think its real....
Is fire wood season a real thing?
It is funny how trees can be different from each other, but larch generally makes pretty awesome firewood.........if you can find any. Had a rather old one a few years ago, 3ft+ rounds the a couple whack with the maul, and it just fell to pieces...I have access to tamarack at times and usually grab the oak, maple or birch.
