Get a Cuben/Dyneema flat tarp. For 9-10 ounces with guylines and stakes, you solve all of your issues and don’t even need a bivy (thus saving you weight).

Tried it like 25 years ago. A waterproof bivy collects too much condensation at temperatures which rain would be present. UL bivy (non-waterproof) and tarp is a better setup.

For the record I don’t tarp it anymore in the NW. It’s just not worth it unless money is tight or you want to simply toughen up. If it’s going to be wet for days, eventually your bag will become mostly useless if you are running down. All of your gear will stay wet and unless you are a savage, you will be less effective. I share an UltaMid 4, floored Dyneema shelter, or run my Sawtooth with 18” Smith stove and a Ti Goat Raven Omni bivy. Both have their advantages.
