The schedule for hockey just came out and my family and I will be coming to Sheridan Nov 1-3 for youth hockey and wanted to try and get my boys (ages 12 & 14) out to hunt whitetails while over there. I work for a utility company on the west side of the state and unfortunately I was on call for the season over here. I know most of the deer are on private over there, so if anyone is willing to let my boys shoot some does or has some landowner contacts that would let them hunt, please let me know.

Thanks,
Brad

There was a guy the last couple years down by the bighorn Y that would let folks come in for $100 a day and kill as many as they could. His name is Steve Washut, might be able to find him on social media but I dont have contact info. He may let them come on for free because its a couple of kids. Worth a shot, I think two years ago they killed 140+ deer on his place.

Game and Fish used to have a landowners list for people willing to let hunters on,been a few years since I've checked.
I haven't heard from anyone yet,a lot of cattle have been displaced to any land that wasn't cooked by the recent fire.

Thank you for trying. I’ve contacted a couple of people but haven’t heard anything yet. I’m going to bring all our gear and see what we can find.

The Sheridan Region of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department quit handing out those lists 8 or 9 years ago due to the negative feedback from both hunters and landowners.

Last time I hunted around there we had great luck just door knocking. One interesting lady charged to shoot does but bucks were free. She told us she had some "real pretty" doe deer.

Ive heard the population is in the gutter up there now compared to not that long ago which may make it more difficult to find access.

Good luck, hope it works out for you!

Have your kids knock on doors and introduce themselves and do the talking. They will get better results on access if they do it.
Talk to the local biologist, he should have a line on a few landowners who still allow youth hunters
