What would be a relatively comfortable long range shot on a whitetail sized game with a scope at 10x? 400 yards? 500 yards?

For some guys 300 for others 1,000.

Me personal 600 or so I'm 100% confident at 10xish

600+. 10x is fine for me at this range, which is the longest available at my local range. It depends a lot on the reticle and the quality of the glass though. The 4-12 I had on the same rifle before did not feel adequate for 600 at 12. That was lower level Vortex vs RS2 Maven.

Shot an antelope at 620 yards with a 9x this past fall. I didn't feel under powered in the field, but would prefer more at the range.

I'm shooting the same scope as the OP. Any other input?

I find in field conditions holding the crosshairs steady on a 12 inch steel target to be a challenge at 10x around 400 yds.

I took a doe at 540 with my scope on 10X. My in the field setup was kneeling in a snow pile with my homemade shooting sticks made from 5ft garden stakes from Menard’s and the tops wrapped in hockey tape. I always have them with me when deer hunting.
2 years ago I took another doe off of those sticks at a bit over 300 yards sitting on my butt with a large frame 308 AR.
