White Sox bite cure

I just spent a week at a friend's cabin and while helping him repair an old machine, the damned white sox chewed up my ankles. I've had
a week of itching and discomfort. Has anyone found an ointment or other fix for white sox bites?

Those headed out on early caribou hunts will meet their share of the buggers this year. Especially when gutting/butchering an animal.

I seem to have acquired some kind of resistance to the effects of the bites. Used to be they got itchy and swelled, sometimes even a little blood.

But as I remember when they were a problem, calamine lotion was a real help.
