Which walking sticks for SL5 tent poles

Need help finding some walking sticks that I could use as my center pole for my SL5.

Any flip lock style will work. Have not used twist lock style. Use flip lock and you will be good to go.

I've used twist locks for my Bearpaw Luna 5 with a Bearpaw extension, but I upgraded to flip locks this year for extra security.

Just to build on your question. What is the best/easiest/most sturdy way to connect the poles together? I have an SL3 and have been looking at this option closely.

Or, you could just carry a piece of PVC pipe or bamboo about a 12"-18" long as an extender for your trekking poles if you don't mind the weight.

THIS!!! Been doing this since Luke turned me onto it and have often kicked myself for not thinking of this earlier. Lashing straps suck!

Luke, Thanks for the link I had not seen that one. I will give it a shot. CAn you expand a bit on the thread you add to the top of the handle, that looks like a handy idea.

I just started doing something similar. I have an old section from a graphite salmon rod that I'm using as an extender - weighs almost nothing! My poles don't fit together well as I have the contour carbon black diamond poles (pole sections aren't round). The other benefit is I can leave the tent up and hike around with one pole.

This is what I use with my SL3. It's from bearpaw designs.
I also use twist lock poles and haven't had a problem yet
