I have a culling job coming up and need a new rifle.
Will definitely be a 223, will definitely be a tikka.

The biggest worry i have is poi shift during longer strings of fire with the lighter barrel models.
I'm expecting and preparing for scenarios that require multiple mag changes and 30+ continuous shots.
**obviously im not expecting sub moa accuracy across 30+ continuous shots, just trying to minimise the impact of barrel heat as much as possible.

I'm thinking of going with the CTR for the 10 round mags and the heavier barrel.

***unfortunately an AR15 with 30 round mags are out unless i jump through 47,000 government hoops, coz Australia......

Cheers 🤙

I would not really worry about long strings of fire in a Tikka. Properly made modern barrels don’t really have that issue. There’s a big thread about it around here somewhere.

With that said, the .223 CTR is a nice rifle.

I’ve been firing long strings of fire with my old T3 sporter and cheap 5.56 while still getting acceptable results. I wanted to see if I shot any differently with different suppressors. I shot ten on each target from AB to Unknown to Airlock, then waited a few minutes and shot ten more in reverse order. I felt like I got sloppy, but was generally satisfied that the suppressor made no difference.

I use the wonderful Waters 10-round magazines.
