I’ve read some folks have used the 300 win mags and some have used the wsm mags. I have a 6.5 prc that I’m looking to purchase a flush mag for and am unsure which will work best. Does anyone have experience with one or the other and which works best for the prc. Thanks

I’ve had good experience with the factory long action mags with my prc. Depending on your ammo, the wsm mags can be too short. If you can get your hands on one of the M+ mags they have a longer OAL than the wsm mags. They are sold with the 6.5 Creedmoor rifles.

M+ in my experience won’t fit a magnum cartridge. Just run the LA mag for the 300WM

The 270 WSM mag is too short. Ask me how I know?

I hate that my 6.5 PRC mag sticks out so far below the rifle.

Been running the 3.34 mag in my 6.5 prc for a few years. Feeds great; never a hiccup.

I had also been running a Hell's Canyon mag in it. The HC mags had a shoulder stop, which is a nice feature. Worked well, but didn't like that it stuck out more than the OEM long actions, so switched back.

Doesn’t a standard L mag limit it to two rounds?
Yes. Two rounds in a regular and 4 in a 5 round mag. As mentioned, you can fit 3 in a WSM mag with some ammo. Nosler factory 142gr ABLR will fit but not factory 143gr ELD-X.
A PRC stopper in a WSM body would make a great 3 rounds mag option for the 6.5 PRC.

Doesn’t a standard L mag limit it to two rounds?
Yes + 1 in the hole. I haven't found it to be an issue. When I hunt with a Tikka, my standard practice is to have 2 loaded mags - one flush, one extended. If I'm carrying the rifle in hand, it gets the flush mount; if I'm set up in a stand or watching over an area, then I run the longer mag. Tikka mags are single stack, so they're about as thin as any looped ammo carrier, and, by extension, are easy to carry in a pocket. No cartridges jingling around and fast reload if needed.

For circumstances when my rifle is being carried in hand, it's usually going to be quick shots at moving game in heavy cover, so getting off 3 good shots with a bolt isn't near as likely as when shooting at game in a large open area at longer distances.
