Which scope?

Calhunter805 , I'm pretty sure that's a Manners EH1 . Mike , what are you asking for the carbon wrap barrels ? What kind of weight for say a 26" 6.5mm barrel ?

Looking at it again it does have the looks of a manners. Awesome stocks by the way.

I just got my first gamescout. Waiting on my barreled action next week.

I'm looking to try a gamescout here in the near future... Let me know how you like it!

Shrek,
We aren't selling barrels only. If you want one, we are the ones doing the chamber work. They shoot too good to trust to another builder at this point and I want full control of the quality.

That is an EH1. Darn nice stock this is one of my favorite builds so far!

The gamescout to me feels very comfy and shoulders awesome. The palm swell is very mild and I love it. The forend is slim and easy to grip. I'm waiting on my barreled action then I will let you know more info.
Here is a pic of the stock. It is dark olive green with black and tan speckles.

Care to throw it on a scale for me? :)

Justin,

I shouldn't even stick my nose in here at all, as it is best for me to always stay out of situations that involve opinions! However I simply want to say I agree with Sam. A 3.5-15x50 has always been one of my favorites when I feel like I'm building a light and handy rifle. Heck for that matter the Antelope I shot for the show a while ago at 1380 was shot with the same scope. The nice thing about the MOAR reticle is how the kill box aids in quartering your target area up. For a setup like it sounds like you want, you cannot go wrong with either the 5.5-22 or 3.5-15, so either way I think your right on track! Go with your gut, then go practice, practice and practice some more and your results will be the ultimate satisfaction! Good luck this season!

Ok Mike , full barrel installation. What kind of weight and cost ? Winchester 70 Classic CFR to be specific to me.

They end up weighing bout the same as a #3 sporter. And unfortunately I'm not building winchesters at this point. Remington, Savage, and we're working in a few Tikkas here shortly....

Standard fill BDL setup

You can get them in edge fill but they must be painted. No mcswirly option with edge fill.

Just ordered a Gamescout with edge fill, 13.75" LOP, FDE with black speckle, Tikka T3 inlet, 2 flush cups with 1 front sling stud. First one I've ordered for a personal build. Too bad it's gonna take 5-6 months to get here!

I agree with Mike, i have a custom 280 #4 Hart fluted bbl loaded with 140 bergers. The gun weighs under 7 lbs without scope and i tried several scopes till i settled with the nxs
. This gun on bipods shoots under half moa groups out to 1200 yds on a regular basis and if i do my job right under 1/4 moa. But i still have to use my head and make an ethical decision on kill shots, certainly not 1200 yds, but 700- 800 is doable with this rig. I decided that repeatable adjustments on the turret was the most important thing to me.

Okay guys, I have been reading about the Leupold VX6 and wondering if any of you have had any experience with it? It looks like it could be exactly what I'm looking for on this build. Any thoughts on this are much appreciated.

thought i read you were tracking issues with leupold? i have as well. im done with there scopes. been beyond happy with nightforce. more heavy but worth it imop. been loving my nxs 3.5-15x50 illuminated with zerostop, moar reticle.

thought i would add i bedded a murphy precision one piece titanium base, nightforce ultralight titanium rings and a nightforce level for the rear top ring. solid is all i can say.

I thought I was having trouble with the tracking on one of my Leupold scopes, but it turns out that the problem was my chronograph.

Also the VX6 scopes have dual erector springs. I believe the VX3 only has one, but I could be wrong.

On the Leupold website the VX3 scope line has a "twin bias spring erector system" I could not find after a quick look what the VX2 line of scopes have.

The VX2 is the previous VX III model or the same, just the lens coatings are different. IMHO the VX2 is the best optical value out there. I have many and never had one fail or return to zero. I know things fail, but think the internet has intensified this.

I have been researching this topic for my dad and I think the leupold vx 6 3.5-18x44 with their custom tmoa reticle is a great scope for the application. Lighter than both the vortex pst and the nightforce with the same options.

I tried talking him into the vortex but he wanted made in the USA then I tried to talk him into nightforce and he didn't like the weight or price. After second thought and doing more research I think the vx6 3.5-18 w the tmoa reticle is the best compromise between the 2, now I want one.
