Which Leofoto ball head?

I am selling a MA-40X if you're interested. Only used a handful of times practically new. Just dont use it as much as I thought I would.

Got a LH-40LSC after being a long time Anvil user recently. I cant deal with having a ball tension adjustment that doesn't move with the clamp head after using the anvil for so long. Dont want to be searching for it on the tripod when on a time crunch.

The Anvil sucks for glassing and I imagine the MA-30 is the same unless one adds a panning base or pan head on top of it. The MH-LRC has the clamp handle that will always be at the same orientation to your optics or rifle and has a built in panning feature. I have both a MH-35LRC and a MA-30L inbound from ebay. Figure i'll use the MH-35LRC for hunting purposes since it has a panning function. MA-30L will likely go on a gamer tripod for shooting and static glassing targets where pan isn't important.

Help me understand what the handle bar on the mh-lrc is for/why it’s desirable. I’ve only ever used a basic ball head and a va-5, so explain it like I’m dumb please.

Not so much being a handlebar as it is having the tension control attached to the weapon clamp rather than the ballhead base such that it is always right there on the left of your fore end where your support hand can reach out and manipulate tension without searching for it.

I’m going to return my Mh-lrc. It takes a lot of turning and doesn’t lock up tight like an anvil/ma-30. I much prefer the quick lever ball clamp on those models to the knob.

This post may have saved me some headache. Looking to get into a tripod I can shoot off but still glass with. Was hoping the MH-LRC style head was the best of both worlds since it allows for panning, and that handlebar looked as intuitive as the MA-30L lever for shooting. So you're saying even with the silver dial tightened up (inside of the handlebar) the handlebar won't lock everything in place? That's disappointing.

Looks like I need to go with MA-30L plus a separate panning attachment. Was hoping to avoid that, but better than a head that sucks at both.
