Which Leofoto ball head?

I know the ma-30l was the go to, but they don’t appear to be readily available. Has anybody had luck with a different Leofoto ball head?

I like the MH 35.

I also have an MA-30 head that I haven’t used much and have been getting ready to sell, if interested.

I’ve used the LH40 extensively and have only positive things to say about it

I tried the MH-50 LRC.
It wouldn't get a good grip on a light rifle despite tightening - very disappointing.
The picatinny lock and ergonomics were good.

I found the ma30L on eBay. I also got the panning attachment and honestly like glassing with it more than my old Mannfrotto head. It is awesome to shoot with the arca rail on my xlr chassis.

Picked up a ma-30 with the knob, not the lever. Excited to try it out on the new tripod!

Does the MA30 really lock the rifle in when tightened down?
I'm in the process of looking for a shooting head.
Unfortunately, the MH50 didn't work out.

It felt really solid to me and my hunting buddy was impressed, but maybe it is subjective.

Not a ball head I know.. I use a leofoto leveling base with arca clamp. Worth comparing to a ball head setup depending on your desired outcome. I use for both glassing and shooting. It does however have its limitations to adjustment. Meaning at times more leg manipulations. I was on the hunt for a ball head as well when I noticed a few people using this setup and researched both.

Got a LH-40LSC after being a long time Anvil user recently. I cant deal with having a ball tension adjustment that doesn't move with the clamp head after using the anvil for so long. Dont want to be searching for it on the tripod when on a time crunch.

The Anvil sucks for glassing and I imagine the MA-30 is the same unless one adds a panning base or pan head on top of it. The MH-LRC has the clamp handle that will always be at the same orientation to your optics or rifle and has a built in panning feature. I have both a MH-35LRC and a MA-30L inbound from ebay. Figure i'll use the MH-35LRC for hunting purposes since it has a panning function. MA-30L will likely go on a gamer tripod for shooting and static glassing targets where pan isn't important.

Just got a MH55-LRC and it will not lock out completely. Am I doing something wrong?

I dont know what lock out completely means and I don't have a MH model in hand yet. On the LH-40LSC i can crank the tension knob down and if I push on something hard enough it will move but I wouldn't care because there's nothing I'm going to clamp in that needs to be locked down that tight.

Like a 24# PRS gun isn't going to move so I've no concerns about a spotting scope or hunting rifle not having enough tension.

Edit to add: unless said 24# rifle was trying to be locked in on the bipod spigot or had a lot of leverage maybe? I never clamp in like that though.

The MH55 moved pretty easy on a light AR despite tightening it down. Gonna try the LH-40.

Picked up a ma-30, thanks for the assist @svivian. It locks my manners pro hunt tight. I’ll get out and shoot with it and report back.

Ignore the mess, still cleaning up from my radon install! 😂 IMG_7006.jpeg

Ma30l has been great for me for shooting. I imagine you would need a panning base for glassing but that’s not something I do much of. I have an arca to spartan adapter so for binos or spotting scope I use the spartan system which allows a free pivot.
