Morning,

Can someone give me a little guidance on the difference in Kifaru frames? I have done the research and mostly settled on the kifaru muskeg 2800 or 5000 for elk hunts.

Should I purchase the duplex lite, ultralite, or hunting platform?

Do i want aluminum of composite stays?

Any other tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a hunter frame with composite stays. They are comfortable to me, but if they don't fit you they can't be bent. The aluminum ones can be bent, but you pay a weight penalty.

I have the duplex lite frame, couple ounces heavier than the ultra lite, with the composite stays I think, and a hunter frame with the aluminum stays. I prefer the duplex lite but it's definitely personal preference. If you're questioning it, give Kifaru a call and talk to them about it, they'll get you on the phone with somebody that knows something.

IMO If you're going to spend the money you may as well get the Muskeg 5000, the bag compresses down pretty small for less gear and you still have the capacity if you need it for more gear and/or longer trips.

Tough to be certain without trying them on. I went in to buy a lite a while back and walked out with a tactical..... had that aahhhhh, warm fuzzy feeling when I put it on with their 80# sandbag. Good news is you can’t go too wrong with any of them. A phone call, as mentioned will settle many of the variables.
