Which inreach is right for me?

I currently use my phone with onX maps and the Garmin Explore app for my topo and arial view maps for planning hunts and marking waypoints. I then use my Garmin instinct watch synced to my Explore app for almost all of my navigation and refer to the maps on my phone when I need to.
So here's the question. I could get a pretty decent deal on an Inreach SE+. I think the Inteach mini would actually work well for me since I don't need another navigation device. But considering the SE+ is cheaper the only downside I can see is the size and weight. Am I missing anything? Also would I have any options for adding better maps to the SE+ so that I could rely less on my phone? Thanks for any insight.

I am not very versed on the SE+ but I have had a mini for a full year now and love it. I have a similar setup to you. I use OnX on my phone with the garmin explore app. I got the mini when we had kids to have a way to keep in contact with home. It has great functionality when paired with the phone and is bombproof.

Mini, Phone, OnXmaps, Anker battery pack. Easy as pie... No need for GPS on the Inreach.

Thanks for those replies. Where I'm coming from is that the SE+ is actually cheaper for me. So I guess my question is, are there any downsides to it other than size and weight? I have heard that the SE does not pair with the Instinct is that true? I wouldn't use my watch for the messaging part anyway but I would love if I could sync waypoints with it. But that brings up the question, can I even put good maps on the SE+?

I don't wear a watch, no idea. I guess I'd get whatever is cheapest for you as they'll all work just fine.

My understanding is that is true...only the mini pairs with the watches. I will tell you that is a nice feature to have. I can send presets and SOS from my watch which means that I can stick the mini in my pack and basically forget about it. I can do everything I need to do from my watch or from my phone.
