Which Argali Knife?

Carbon v Sawtooth.

Now that they both come in Magnacut, what be your reason for choosing one over the other?

Western backpack hunting/ never plan on skinning/ caping specifically for a mount/ always carrying a bugout as well.

My gut says Sawtooth, but couldn’t say why, just want to make sure I’m getting the best one for my purposes for a buy-once-cry-once-keep it-for-life knife.

I’d take the Carbon but I really like smaller blades.

I asked Brad from Argali which knife with basically the same requirements and he suggested the Serac but the Sawtooth wasn't out yet when I got mine.

I would go with the Serac.

I just got to use my carbon last week and I thought it was great. Nephew did the his caping with his havalon though.

I have the serac and the carbon. Both are great but I find my self grabbing the carbon more often. Also, weirdly enough, I’ve found no discernible difference in performance between the s35v and Magnacut. I actually think the s35v might perform slightly better, maybe I’m crazy…

As for the sawtooth, I don’t have any experience. The carbon blade tilts down and I love this about it, I’d guess the upward trailing point would have the opposite effect for me.

I think the Serac and the carbon are both really nice knives. If I had to choose one it would the the Serac, as I think it nails the blade shape for me perfectly, but that is splitting hairs.

The reason you find the magnacut and S35 so comparable is because their edge retention is basically a wash. Magnacut struts its stuff over S35 when it comes to toughness and corrosion resistance.
