i am getting more and more confused on rain gear the more i read. i am heading to alaska in a week, so it is time to get a new rain coat. i watched the e vent video posted by aron, you should see this, it is v impressive. so which, arcteryx, kuiu chugash, sitka stormfront, rei kimtah, helly hanson, or what. this needs to be for heavy rain, and breathable if possible.

Take a look at the Rei Shuksan eVent jacket. It is a little heavier-duty and more durable than the Kimtah.

eVent is great.

I just tried on the Kimtah at REI and am very impressed. It fit great over my soft shell that I was wearing. Looks like its time to clean out the closet and sell some unused goodies.

Bearguide,

Look into the offerings from Westcomb as well!!! Great stuff for sure. I really like Kuiu Chugach, but Westcomb is another great company worth looking into as well.
