I can vouch for Ruger American Predators. I have one in 6mm CM and it's more accurate than several customs that I own.

I was able to put 30 rounds thru the predator 223 tonight and it shot several sub 0.75 groups at 100. A really fun rig. Not sure why I waited so long to get one

I bought a Ruger American in .308 this time last year for around $400 at Bud’s. The stocks are garbage, but the actions are smooth as glass and they shoot well. It also came with Ruger’s version of the accutrigger which I really like.

I bought a custom stock from Boyd’s and a Burris Fullfield E1 4.5-14x42 mounted on Warne Maxima rings. Whole setup was less than $1,000 and shoots MOA. I don’t think you can go wrong with the Ruger, but the Savage is a good gun too.

Think through shot distance, over all rig weight, projectile weight, barrel twist, barrel length prior to selecting a factory rifle.
