Where to find nuts & bolts these days?!

mcmaster, grainger, any of those supply houses. I've also had really good luck with Rural King
(not sure where you're located). They carry a lot of automotive/industrial sizes that the other local shops don't.

They had M7x50 and M7x70 bolts today, but no M7x60mm.
10 seconds with a cut off wheel and an M7x70 can become an M7x60. Dress the starting thread with a die if you have it or a small file if you don't and you're good to go.

I have no qualms about ordering oddball fasteners from Amazon and have done so many times. Most recent example was an extra long 3/8-24 that I needed to serve as a crankshaft end cap bolt. I've occasionally had to pony up and order from McMaster for really hard to find fasteners.

I had to install this on Friday. Order online with ship to store is about all you get anymore. Contractors and business accounts are proven to be the money. COVID-19 showed the management that very clearly.

I’ve ordered a couple thing thru work from fastenal.

They don’t even full fill it I don’t think.

They charged me shipping, then shipped it to will call, then I had to make an appointment to pick it up during business hours.

You charged me shipping, ship it to me. WTH

I would never even consider Fastenal again after only 1 purchase from them. What a ripoff. We have 2 local hardware stores that have amazing fastener sections.

Seems like our local True Value, price gouges on basic hardware. Especially on washers. It would be cheaper to drill out the center of a penny than pay $.25-.35 per washer. Am just not going to do that if I can avoid it

All of Tractor Supply's basic zinc coated hardware is sold by weight. So can get everything I need for a small project, and its $1-3 and change for a few nuts, long bolts, and washers. TSC is also very close, so its convenient.

Further drive for me, for Rural King, Ace, Lowes. Nothing against any of them.

also, put a nut on the bolt before you cut it and then you can loosen it and it’ll chase the threads
