Hung a sign on the shop door and turned the work phone off for the week. I'm not very good at doing that. Not counting dirtbikes or just out driving around, I have been in the woods twice this year...So yea :ROFLMAO:

Had a rough idea of where I wanted to hunt. But somewhere between the stop light turning from red to green, my plans changed. Ended up 90 miles away from where I wanted to be, not even in the right unit. But it was a nice sunrise

Got that outta the way headed back for my unit. Made it about 30 miles when I decided plan B was sounded better than more hiway miles

Took the wrong road and found a pit I had forgotten about. Might as well plink a lil

Right after that pic, I remembered I cleaned out the pickup the otherday and took most the ammo out of it. I scrounged up 6 shells so the day was saved :ROFLMAO:

Beat on the truck for a while longer and then started walking in.

This is a tree

Damn near every other gun I own would have made that shot with ease. But nooo..I gotta drag that 30-30 out :ROFLMAO:

So watched him for a bit. Decentish 3x maybe a 4x, lil eyeguards. Notta bad buck, but far from a wowzer, and he's in an iffy place. Eventually talked myself into it.

Had a stupid bent pine tree for a reference point and still managed to drop down the wrong ridgeline twice before getting on the right one. Windy as shit up until I was getting near the edge of the rimrock then it died and everything was silent..wtf?

Where I ran out of rock. I could just see a bit of horn, ear and part of his body. Was 20'-30' below me. Went to move around for a better shot and I never saw him again.

So did the only thing you could do...Wander around for 10 mins looking for the moss covered rock I dumped my pack on. And then watch the day go by. All in all.. Not a bad monday

Counting the days until late buck! The 4 most important days of the year! I just pray there isn't a huge snow storm that keeps me out of my valley!
meanwhile, the rut is heating up!

Holy shit, I guess its goona storm today! :ROFLMAO:

Hunted till I got cold an soaked through, then bailed on this spot

Got dried out and bounced to another area. Kicked up one big ass doe and a button buck. Did get into the sign I've been looking for though. Will hit it again tomorrow.

Rainjacket decided to fawk off on me today. Whats worth buying these days? Would prefer non camo if possible.

Got sick of getting wet and bought a Helly Hansen pvc/plastic jacket for the real rainy weather days

I’ve got a couple sets of HH/Grundens. They’re great and all, but I can completely soak myself in sweat doing anything more active than standing perfectly still in 33 degree rain. Keeps 100% of the rain off though!

Looks promising. Wish I was out deer hunting. Went by too quickly this year, even with two tags. Didn't hunt in the rain even once. I have been happy with my Arc'teryx jacket, but they are expensive. With a light wool flannel beneath you stay decently dry. Eventually you'll be soaked no matter what you wear though.
