Busted timber for a bit but really didnt see much for sign. I ended up dropping down into the rimrock and glassing a lil. Theres really nothing good about this canyon. It just keeps getting worse, the deeper you go into it.

Damn near every other gun I own would have made that shot with ease. But nooo..I gotta drag that 30-30 out

So watched him for a bit. Decentish 3x maybe a 4x, lil eyeguards. Notta bad buck, but far from a wowzer, and he's in an iffy place. Eventually talked myself into it.

Had a stupid bent pine tree for a reference point and still managed to drop down the wrong ridgeline twice before getting on the right one. Windy as shit up until I was getting near the edge of the rimrock then it died and everything was silent..wtf?

Where I ran out of rock. I could just see a bit of horn, ear and part of his body. Was 20'-30' below me. Went to move around for a better shot and I never saw him again.

So did the only thing you could do...Wander around for 10 mins looking for the moss covered rock I dumped my pack on. And then watch the day go by. All in all.. Not a bad monday

Hunted till I got cold an soaked through, then bailed on this spot




Got dried out and bounced to another area. Kicked up one big ass doe and a button buck. Did get into the sign I've been looking for though. Will hit it again tomorrow.

Rainjacket decided to fawk off on me today. Whats worth buying these days? Would prefer non camo if possible.

I’ve got a couple sets of HH/Grundens. They’re great and all, but I can completely soak myself in sweat doing anything more active than standing perfectly still in 33 degree rain. Keeps 100% of the rain off though!

Looks promising. Wish I was out deer hunting. Went by too quickly this year, even with two tags. Didn't hunt in the rain even once. I have been happy with my Arc'teryx jacket, but they are expensive. With a light wool flannel beneath you stay decently dry. Eventually you'll be soaked no matter what you wear though.

Kuiu Yukon or kutana are the 2 best breathable options I know of after using a bunch, they have quite a few sales per year, ain’t no reason to pay full price

Kutana has a slimmer cut, is a little lighter but seemingly as tough. Breathability rating isn’t as good, but I can’t tell any difference in actual use

Broke down and brought the tripod and real binoculars. I need to trade them off for some big 12's I think. The 15's are just a tad much. I'd also like to round up a tripod/head thats a bit lighter.
